Fleetwood Town’s Former Players Association teed off their annual golf day on Thursday morning at Fleetwood Golf Club, with more than 10 members playing in the scorching sun!
Malcolm Clegg, a long-time member of the FPA, helped organise the whole event which takes place every year and all who turned up seemed to have a good time once again – having a laugh whilst playing one of their favourite sports.
As the members went round the course in groups of four, some shots were hit perfectly, as if they were on the PGA Tour and some not-so-much with certain players scuffing their tee shots starting at the first hole.
It was a great day in the sun, with temperatures hitting 28 degrees at one point in the day, so sun cream was a must for all who attended. Some must have forgotten as there were some burned heads when they returned to the clubhouse at the end.
After the three groups finished their games, they all headed up to the snack bar at the golf club where they grabbed a well-deserved drink and a pre-arranged meal, sorted out by the organiser, Malcolm.
He said this on the meeting: "It was a fabulously hot day at Fleetwood Golf Club for the second meeting of golfing former players. It had been intended that this would become an annual event following the successful first meeting three years ago but this was not possible because of the pandemic.
