Defender Josh Earl becomes the Club’s sixth signing having joined the Cod Army on a two-year-deal from Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End.

The 23-year-old defender comes to the Fylde Coast with vast experience in the league above, having played 31 times for the Lilywhites last season, and now can’t wait to meet his new teammates on Tuesday morning.

Here is what Josh had to say on the move to Fleetwood:

On the move to Fleetwood…

“It feels amazing to be here, and as soon as I knew the Club were interested, it was a no-brainer for me to come here. I am a local lad, based in the North-West, and the fact the new manager [Scott Brown] has the ambitions he has, so I am really looking forward to going.

“Staying local will make a massive difference, keeping close to friends and family makes the whole transition to a new Club much easier, and from what I know already, it’s a great Club to be at.

“The two-year deal makes a massive difference and takes some weight off my shoulders. With the long contract, it was more appealing to again stay local and be at a Club that has ambitions.”

On playing under an experienced coaching staff…

“Playing under a manager who has been there and done that as a player is very appealing and with the other signings that the Club has made this summer, I am now looking forward to seeing them all in training tomorrow.

“Having a coach that has played in a similar position to me as Steven Whittaker [Town’s Assistant Head Coach] is great as I will learn a lot about my game working alongside him, and the gaffer. It’s a great combination of working alongside the gaffer and also training here at Poolfoot Farm, and I am just ready to go. I am going to give 100% for the badge and you will always get the best possible Josh out there.

“There is plenty of experience within the squad with the likes of Tom Clarke and players of that calibre and I feel this is a great place for me to develop. Clarkey was my captain at Preston and I also know Joe Garner – who I had a few elbows in the face from him in training so yes it’s great to know some lads here and as I say, I really can’t wait to get going.”
