Head coach Scott Brown spoke to the Club after his side's 2-1 victory over Dundee United in the penultimate pre-season friendly match a Highbury Stadium.

Goals from Dan Batty and Josh Vela saw Town win the match against the Terrors’, with former Fleetwood centre-half Charlie Mulgrew grabbing the only goal for Jack Ross’ men.

Here’s what the gaffer had to say in his post-match interview:

On the match and the win…

"To be fair there was some good performances on display today. We got a little bit tired and a little bit sloppy as the game went on, but I wanted the lads to get as much minutes as they possibly could.

“Quite a lot of the players got 90 minutes today which is ideal for us, and for the players as well. There's another game on Tuesday so the others will get 90 minutes then. Overall, it was a good game with both teams wanted to play football.

“Dundee United had fantastic support today and Jack has got them playing some good stuff. At the end of the day, we're happy enough with the win but I know the lads can push more and have better quality. Now we need to be looking forward to the first game of the season.”

On Batty’s third goal in three matches…

"I said to him before the game you’re going to score again today and he did. It's great, his energy is incredible. Having Josh to go and press their back line and full backs to put teams under pressure is what we want to do, especially at home.

“We know it's a tight pitch here. We want to put teams under pressure, and we want, we don’t want to let them dictate the style of play they want.

“We go in their faces today and caused them problems. That's what Batts [Dan Batty] has been doing for us all pre-season. He's been fantastic since we've came in.”

On the fitness and demand within the squad…

"The fitness levels are getting there. I've put a lot of demand on them, so have the backroom staff.

“The team have also shown their quality today. There were great moments in the game and when we lost the ball the recovery runs were fantastic. We could have had a couple more chances, especially with Hayes coming on and showing his quality.

“We've been on to him about his numbers and he managed to provide an assist today!”
