Forward Anthony Pilkington spoke to the press after Saturday afternoon’s 1-0 win over league leaders Rotherham United.

An end-to-end match finished in dramatic fashion when substitute Pilkington got on the end of Toto Nsiala’s header, to poke home the winner and snatch a deserved three points in added time.

Here’s what Pilkington had to say:

On the result…

“It’s great for the lads, obviously beating top of the league and putting back-to-back wins together. The lads had to put in a massive shift. We knew what was coming at us this week.

“They’re a tough side to play against, they’re good at what they do, they make it really difficult, and I thought the lads to a man were excellent today and got the rewards at the end.

“He [Toto Nsiala] trained yesterday when we were doing set-pieces and I think he won every header. When you’ve got someone like that in your team in the last minute you’ve got to gamble and expect him to win it and he did what he was doing yesterday, and I was lucky enough to get on the end of it.”

On the squad…

"Everyone's been brilliant, that's two clean sheets in a row now, the lads have been brilliant, all the way through the squad we've had people stepping in and now we're getting our rewards for everyone putting the effort in on the training ground.

"We know we've got quality in the squad, as good as anyone in the league, we know we can score goals but it's also about putting your bodies on the line. The number of crosses that came in today that the lads got there first to against a really tough team, to keep a clean sheet is fantastic and we always say that if we keep a clean sheet we can win games."

“We need everyone, even the lads not involved in the squad. There have been loads of injuries this season, it’s frustrating but everyone that has been given a chance and gets a chance has given their all for the club.”
