FLEETWOOD TOWN

Scott Brown’s side head over to MK Dons in good spirits after scoring a late goal in their last league encounter against Ipswich Town. Cian Hayes' injury time strike secure a point against the league leaders, with the whole squad ready to put on another performance for the fans this weekend.

Fleetwood's result at Portman Road was the club's 11th draw of the season, and with the match against a side in the relegation zone, it could be a big weekend to try and put some distance between themsevles and those teams in the bottom four.

MK DONS

MK Dons haven't had the best of starts to their 2022/23 season, and currently sit 22nd in the Sky Bet League One table, having collected 15 points from their 19 games. Liam Manning's side drew their last match in the league against Burton Albion. Veteran, Bradley Johnson scored a 84th minute goal to salvage a point for the hosts that day.

Much like Town, wins have been tough to come by, with their last win in the league coming against Charlton in a 2-0 win. Johnson and Will Grigg were on the score sheet that evening at the Valley.

The player to watch for MK Dons is Will Grigg. He's scored 7 goals in 21 appearances this campaign, and will be looking to be the man to steer last season's Play-Off Semi-Finalist out of the relegation zone. Grigg made his name at Wigan Athletic during his side in the North West. He was at Stadium MK in the 2014/15 season - on that stay he scored 20 in 44 matches, a record his side will hope he can repeat again!

WHAT STEVEN WHITTAKER SAID AHEAD OF THE GAME

Assistant Head Coach Steven Whittaker was on press duty in midweek, and here's what he had to say:

On the draws…

“We just need to be a little more clinical inside both boxes. We need to cut out the little mistakes that are leading to chances for the opposition.

“It's about managing the game and taking the sting out of the game in moments. We are learning as a group so hopefully in the second half of the season, we can improve on that aspect.

“There are top players in this league so for us, it’s about what team and players we come up against in the 90 minutes we play. It’s important our group is as consistent as possible, and we are at it 100%.

“I know that isn’t easy, but if we can have that mindset and look after ourselves, we will be ready for each game.”

On MK Dons…

“We are a little bit surprised where they are in the league. They’re a side who play good football and keep possession so we will have to be really disciplined in what we are doing and when we don’t have the ball.

“We are expecting a tough game and we know if we aren’t working together, it could become a really tough afternoon. We know their strengths and weaknesses and what they’re capable of doing.

“Hopefully we can point our stamp on the game and take something from the game.”
