It was a moment to remember for young Kyle White on Saturday 6 August as he made his Fleetwood Town and EFL debut in the 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

White – who is the 193rd player to feature for the Cod Amry in the EFL – came off the bench at the weekend to claim his first cap for the Club in the Sky Bet League One home match against Argyle.

In the 74th minute, Town’s head coach Scott Brown called over the youngster from the dugouts to give him the nod that he would be coming on for Brendan Wiredu with the game that was poised at one-a-piece.

On making his debut, Kyle said: It was just so good to make my debut, I really enjoyed it!”

The 18-year-old added: “The gaffer [Scott Brown] just said to me he wants me to give some energy in the midfield. He was telling me to be calm when I got the ball and to keep the game ticking and don’t allow their players to dictate the game - I felt I did that.

“The game is a lot quicker and that did put me out my comfort zone but that is what you need to make that step up to this standard and hopefully I can get more opportunities in the future.”

The former AFC Blackpool midfielder witnessed his first win at Highbury in the dramatic ending, which saw teammate Joe Garner score from close range to get Town over the line against Plymouth.

“The atmosphere was very loud on Saturday at both ends of the pitch, but it was great to see the fans banging the drum and creating the atmosphere they did to get the players over the line – they were a massive help to the team!

“When the winner went in, I was absolutely buzzing. It was a class feeling and as I said, to see the fans’ reaction straight after was amazing.

“It’s something new for sure this experience as I was playing non-league football not so long ago, so to be out there on Saturday, it was a moment I won’t forget.”

Congratulations Kyle - here's to many more in the red and white of Fleetwood!
