With Fleetwood Town hosting a charity match in aid of Isabelle Grundy’s medical treatment in May, we can now let you know some of the names that will be playing in the game for the Fleetwood All Stars!
Legends will spread themselves across the side, ranging from Jamie Milligan and Jamie McGuire in the middle, to Gareth Seddon and Lennie Reid up top, with legendary centre-halves Nathan Pond and Steve McNulty at the back. Not only this but Richie Allen, Scott Davies and a few more will also be in the squad on the afternoon.
They are making a day of it as children will be able to take part in a junior penalty shoot-out ahead of the game, with the Sea Cadets Old Boys playing music for the occasion as well. When the teams are walking out, they will be led by former managers Alan Tinsley and Kevin Byrne.
Both Alan – who was the manager that took Town to Wembley for the FA Vase final in 1985 – and Kevin are members of the Former Players Association (FPA) and are seen around Poolfoot Farm all the time, so it will be nice to see them lead the teams out the tunnel.
The game is in aid of Isabelle, who lives in Cleveleys, as she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in the summer of 2021 after finding a lump in her stomach, which only has a 50% survival rate.
Since diagnosis, she has undergone intensive treatment, ranging from high-dose chemotherapy to blood transplants. Her parents think that treatment in America that is not readily available in the UK is her best chance at beating cancer for good, but it is incredibly expensive.
The charity match is set to take place on Sunday 1 May at 4pm, with the turnstiles opening an hour before kick-off. Tickets are £5 each and are being sold on our online store HERE. Get yours today to help raise money for Isabelle!
