Two of the Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies teams were in action at the weekend and here is a round-up of how they did in their respected fixtures.

First Team

Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies 4-3 Blackburn Community Sports Club Ladies

The first-team were in Challenge Cup action at Poolfoot Farm on Sunday and won out in their seven-goal thriller against the side from Blackburn. With 10 of the starting XI being 18 years or younger, the young side showed experience beyond their years as Ellie Parkinson, Caz Wilcock, Lydia Wright, and Lord getting on the score sheet.

Town squad: Ashton, Etheridge, Hunter, Hart, Haydock, Wilcock, Lord, Boswell, Parkinson, Payton, Sarsfield, Daniel, Wright, Aitken, Thiedeman, McNally.

Players of the Match: Ellie Parkinson & Rebecca Lord.

Development Squad

Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Development Squad 1-4 Southport FC Women

The Development Squad lost out to Southport over the weekend, in an unlucky defeat at Brews Park. They dominated parts of the play throughout the Challenge Cup clash, with Jordan O’Neill scoring their only goal of the game, but fell short in what will be a good learning experience for the side.

Town squad: C.O’Neill, Duffy, Dunning, Crook, J.O’Neill, Hague, Winder, Horton, Bullion, Chapman, O’Brien, Broom, Ramsbottom.

Player of the Match: Chloe O’Neill.
