Fleetwood Town Under-19s lost to Preston North End on Saturday morning at Poolfoot Farm.

Town kicked off the game in a positive fashion but found themselves behind after three minutes as Lewis Leigh’s strike from 30-yards stunned everyone there as it beat Connor Eastham in the Town goal.

Finlay Cross-Adair and a penalty from Mikey O’Neill saw the visitors extend their lead before the break leaving the young Cods with work to do in the second period.

Town’s best chance almost found the back of the net midway through the second half when their corner was cleared to the edge of the area where it was met by a sweet volley from a Fleetwood defender which only just went wide.

Further chances from Jacob Slater, Dana Amaral, and Vaughn Green, as well as a Fleetwood own goal, added to the scoreline and saw the Under-19s fall to defeat at home.

Town XI: Eastham (GK), Brown, Arthur, Raffie, Teale, Hand, Daha, Morrison, McMillan, Jones, Roberts.

Bench: Cragg (GK), Kearns, Marsh, Richmond, Thompson-Prempeh.
