Fleetwood Town are set to travel to the LNER Stadium on Tuesday evening to face Lincoln City in another Sky Bet League One clash.

The Cod Army have faced The Imps four times in competitive fixtures, with Fleetwood and Lincoln both winning one apiece, with the two sides sharing the points on the other two occasions.

LAST COMPETITIVE CLASH

The last time these sides met was in October 2020, and Town played valiantly throughout the game that ended in a goalless draw at Highbury Stadium.

Lincoln started the game the better, forging multiple chances, but none of them were able to trouble Jayson Leutwiler in the Fleetwood goal. Town then started to push in the game and came closest to breaking the deadlock as Paddy Madden’s close-range header, from a Harvey Saunders cross, struck the crossbar.

Brennan Johnson came close for the Imps early in the second half as he drove through the Town defence and forced a save from Leutwiler. Charlie Mulgrew, who was making his debut on the day, had the last chance of the game with a free-kick from 20-yards, but it was saved by Alex Palmer.

LAST TIME AT THE LNER STADIUM

Town have only played against Lincoln twice at the LNER Stadium, with the last time being in August 2019 which ended in a 2-0 loss. Two first-half goals in as many minutes from Tyler Walker saw Fleetwood Town lose out to the, then newly promoted, Imps.

Despite Town having their fair share of possession in the opening half an hour, it was the hosts who took the lead from Walker after Toffolo’s cross on the left-hand side. The Nottingham Forest loanee doubled the scoreline just a minute later after a nice calm finish from close range.

The Cod Army then threw caution to the wind in the second half, but failed to beat City goalkeeper Josh Vickers, and return to the Fylde Coast without anything to show for their efforts.
