Fleetwood Town can confirm Callum Johnson has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from fellow Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth.
Johnson – who arrives on the Fylde Coast after the news of Brad Halliday’s ACL injury he suffered against Sheffield Wednesday – has been an ever-present for Pompey since his arrival in September 2020 having managed to make 48 appearances in all competitions from full-back.
The defender started his career in the Middlesbrough youth setup and even made three first-team appearances in the EFL Trophy for the side, before making the move to Lancashire outfit, Accrington Stanley.
The 24-year-old saw success at Stanley as he was part of the side who earned promotion to England’s third-tier as League Two champions, with Johnson contributing 35 appearances and one goal to help his side to the title, and appeared in a further 83 matches over the next two seasons as an ever-present in John Coleman’s side.
Johnson, who will wear the number 26, will be available for Plymouth Argyle subject to EFL & FA clearance.
Welcome to the Cods, Callum!
