Fleetwood Town can confirm David Lucas will leave the club at the end of the current season after eight years.

The goalkeeping coach has accepted an exciting new role at a Premier League club and will therefore depart Highbury Stadium in May.

Lucas arrived at Fleetwood initially as a player in 2013 before becoming goalkeeping coach under the boss Graham Alexander.

Andy Pilley, Chairman of Fleetwood Town, said: “We’d like to thank Dave for his service to the club, he’s a hugely popular member of staff.

“Everyone at the club is delighted he’s been given an opportunity in the Premier League and it was something we’d never stand in the way of. He will leave this summer with our thanks and best wishes.”

The club will now begin the process of recruiting for the role of Head of Goalkeeping.
