Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies carried on their great run of form over the weekend as they managed to beat Warrington Rylands LFC 14-0 in the first preliminary round of the Women’s FA Cup.

As normal, Dave Butler and his side talked about starting the game on the right foot, and with high intensity, and they certainly did that as they created multiple chances in the opening ten minutes.

They carried on with the same pace throughout the half and managed to score eight past the Rylands goalkeeper. Beth Gregory, Lauren Oatley – Sunday’s Player of the Match - and Louis Gibbins all bagged braces, with Emily Jones and Emily Slater scoring the other two.

The coaches then saw an opportunity to rotate the squad, due to the half-time advantage, and made five changes early on in the second half. Full debuts were presented to two 17-year-olds in Kira Boswell and Olivia Black, and 16-year-old Ellie Parkinson.

The Wrens Ladies continued to press and added to their first-half tally, with both Oatley and E.Slater finishing off their hat-tricks. Sophie Slater and Eve Kennerley scored soon after with debutant Boswell, also grabbing a goal.

With the Ladies comfortably through to the next round of the competition, they are set to face Darwen WLFC at Poolfoot Farm on Sunday 4 October.
