Forward Ched Evans spoke to the press ahead of Fleetwood Town’s Sky Bet League One clash against Shrewsbury Town at Highbury on Tuesday.

Evans, who started his season tally against Gillingham on Saturday, is looking to kick on now after the win on the weekend and is looking to be playing back at home against Shrewsbury.

Ahead of the Salop tie, here is what Ched had to say:

On Shrewsbury Town…

“After Saturday’s performance, grinding it out, I think at home against Shrewsbury, we will be looking to follow it up with a win.

“We will wait and see but we are confident. The games do come thick and fast but for us as a squad and a club, we should be kicking on now and try to get back to back wins.

“It was nice to get off the mark and get a goal in the league and, hopefully, that will kickstart the season for me.”

On the squad…

“We’ve added to the squad massively, we got active towards the end of the window and if you look at the difference in the squad compared to the Wigan game, you can see a difference.

“All you have to do is look at the bench on Saturday, with the likes of Josh Morris and others not making it into the squad. We have competition for places all over the park which is always healthy at a football club.

“We made it to the playoffs last season as our squad was strong then, but if you look at the experience and games played in the league, this year’s team is even stronger.”

On the Gillingham result…

“It was a good day, obviously the circumstances surrounding the game were a bit mad with us getting changed in the club shop and stuff like that. I thought the first half was a bit scrappy, they had a game plan, and I thought our back six dealt with them really well.

“Paddy [Madden] did what he does best and gets us in front, and we manage to get the win at the end of the game so it was a good day all around, apart from the long travelling.

“I think three or four of us had a bath in the ice bath with some Pantene on - it was bizarre! Getting changed in the club shop was a surreal situation. It takes a brave man to go and do that in the ice bath but a few of us would have rather done that than not have a shower at all.”
