Fleetwood Town’s academy have been running a ‘Battle of the Age Groups’ challenge throughout the month of May, and the players have loved it!
In the first part of the competition, the academy staff asked all our young players to show off their footwork, with a ball manipulation challenge. With over 70 submissions in just a few days, the challenge was well underway.
Challenge two came courtesy of Under 18s defender James Hill, as he wanted all the younger players to see how many ‘foot foot knee knee’ combinations they could do before dropping the ball.
With competition submissions flying in, the third challenge was introduced and that was to do as many kick-up levels they can.
This saw players attempt to do various kick-up challenges including, two consecutive kick-ups with the same foot before swapping, alternate kick-ups and below waist height kick-ups.
One of the stand out performers in this round was Under 10 Isaac Stacker, who completed 225 consecutive kick-ups on the hardest challenge!
The final part of the competition was a freestyle section, which allowed all the academy players to show off their skills and creativity, as they created a routine from start to finish.
After all the challenges were completed, the results were in and the Under 11s came out victors, completing all the challenges brilliantly, and in their numbers – well done to all involved!
