New signing Jordan Rossiter says that he just wants to get back on the pitch and repay the faith Fleetwood Town have shown in him over the last 12 months.

The 23-year-old, who enjoyed a successful loan period with the Cod Army last season, has signed a one-year-deal for Fleetwood, with the club holding an option for a further 12-months.

Rossiter became a fans-favourite last season, after making 19 appearances at the after joining on loan from Rangers, but unfortunately suffered an injury, but he is on the path to recovery and wants to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

We spoke to Jordan after he signed his new deal. Here is what he had to say…

On his new contract…

“I’m delighted to get this over the line and I’m looking forward to getting going again. It’s been a great year, I’ve loved being with all the lads, and everyone has been brilliant with me. I suffered the injury in November everyone’s been first-class with me and I can’t wait to repay the faith that everybody has shown in me.

“I’m feeling good, I’m back on the grass so I’m building up my fitness now and, hopefully, it’s not too long before I’m back on the pitch helping the lads out. For me, I want to get back to full fitness as quick as I can as I want to play week in, week out. Hopefully, that’s not too far away.

On the squad…

“Already knowing everyone in the squad is definitely a bonus for me. When you sign for a new club and sign a new contract, you have to get to know all the players and staff. Since I’ve been here, it’s an absolutely brilliant changing room with great staff and everyone, from top to bottom, has been great with me so far.

“There’s been a few new signings, with Callum Camps, and obviously bringing back Glenn Whelan, so it’s a really good group and changing room at the minute, which is exciting.”

On the upcoming season…

“There’s no reason why we can’t be in the mix again this year. The lads put a great run towards the end of the season last year, but it got cut short due to the COVID situation, but I think if that never happened, we were in a really good position to go up in the automatic spots.

“Everyone is together, and that showed in the run we put together after Christmas last year. We put a good show on at the end of the season and could well have been in the Championship at the minute. The lads want to put things right this year and get cracking.”
