Fleetwood Town head coach Joey Barton sat down with the media on Thursday ahead of his side’s final game of the season at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The Cod Army are looking to end their Sky Bet League One campaign with back-to-back victories having secured three points in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night against Sunderland.

See below the key quotes from Joey’s press conference at Poolfoot Farm…

On his side are looking and reflecting on Tuesday night’s win over Sunderland…

“We’ve got a few bodies who will be joining back in training today. We’re unsure on Ched and Harry Souttar, but we’ll have more information and take it from there into the weekend.

“We came through the game well on Tuesday, spirits are high as you can imagine after getting the last minute winner.

“The lads did themselves proud on Tuesday. I don’t think we were at our best in the first half, but certainly in the second half we were right where we wanted to be.”

On looking to end with victory at Wycombe at Saturday…

“The exciting thing is that we want to finish the season strongly, and it would be nice to do that with back-to-back victories.

“It won’t be easy at Wycombe, but it would be nice to get that feeling going into the summer so we can hit the ground running next season.

“I spoke on Tuesday night about how we won the game on our culture, and I think that we did. We were probably lucky to get in at half-time at 1-0 down, and then the lads in the second half were outstanding.

“You can’t do that if you don’t have a good culture. We had to get that monkey off our back – not coming from behind to win – I think the manner of the win, and who it came against, will give the lads an incredible amount of belief.”

On Paddy Madden looking to reach 20 goals this season…

“I think he has an agreement in his contract that he gets something for 20 goals, so he’s asked me to take everything on Saturday!

“I actually thought he’d probably get there a while back and maybe he could get to 25 goals, because he got to 18 rather sharply. His work rate and everything has been superb and it was great to see him back on the goal trail on Tuesday.

“Him and Ched have had a great little competition this season. Hopefully we can get Ched fit for the weekend and he gets an opportunity to fight with Paddy for the top scorer position!”
