Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Lawlor as the new Youth Development Phase Lead Coach.

Lawlor has been a coach at the club’s academy, but will now step up into his new role where he will oversea the Youth Development Phase – which focuses on players aged 12-16 years-old.

Lawlor spoke to the club’s iFollow in an exclusive interview, and stated he can’t wait to get started in his new role.

He added: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity. It’s important we push on now as an academy as we have seen five players from this set-up given a chance in the first team.

“We are blessed to have the facilities we have at Poolfoot Farm and now we need to push our players forward. We are going in the right direction.”

Ciaran Donnelly, Academy Manager said: “It is great to have Matt on board. He is an excellent coach with good experience in coaching for his age.

“I value him highly as a person, and I know his football knowledge will help us develop the academy further. We are excited to add him to our already vibrant coaching team and I know he is going to push the academy forward in the coming years.”
