Paul Coutts took the honours on Wednesday as Fleetwood Town players and staff faced off against one of the rising stars of World Darts!

Town stars Coutts, Harry Souttar and Paddy Madden and first team coach Barry Nicholson took part in a special nine-dart challenge on stage, with the winner then taking on three-time BDO World Champion Glen Durrant at Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Durrant knocked out World Champion Michael van Gerwen in the Betfred World Matchplay on Tuesday, moving himself into Thursday’s quarter-finals.

Having defeated the world number one, Durrant could have been forgiven for riding the crest of a wave, only to lose to midfielder Coutts over the best of three legs!

The quartet also got their hands on the Phil Taylor Trophy – although superstitious Durrant is hoping to touch the trophy for the first time after Sunday night’s final at the Winter Gardens.

Paul Coutts, said on becoming the Fleetwood Town Darts Champion: “I suppose after beating Glen it means that I’m the best in the world!

“In all seriousness we have had a great day, and can’t thank the PDC, Winter Gardens and Glen enough. We’re all big darts fans in the dressing room, and we’ve been following Glen’s progress closely over the last week after his amazing victory over Van Gerwin.

“We’d like to wish Glen all the best in his last eight match with James Wade on Thursday – we’ll be cheering him on!”
