Fleetwood Town Community Trust is delighted to announce it will continue to deliver a vital sports and fitness programme aimed at boosting the health and wellbeing of local children and young adults.
The Trust has won the contract to deliver the TrySport programme on behalf of Wyre Council for another three years.
In its first three years, the programme – which is aimed at seven to 24-year-olds – has engaged with more than 1,800 young people across the borough.
TrySport provides opportunities for young people to increase their levels of physical activity by getting involved in a wide variety of sports and community activities such as football, tennis, Dodgeball, street dance, climbing, trampolining, fitness classes and skateboarding.

Matt Hilton, Fleetwood Town Community Trust’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue the delivery of such an important and popular community sport programme.
“TrySport gives us the opportunity to engage and change the lives of young people across the whole of Wyre.
“It has got off to a fantastic start over the first three years and we are looking forward to working hard in the local community and achieving positive outcomes for young people.”
The TrySport sessions are held after school and at weekends at locations including Fleetwood, Poulton and Thornton YMCA, Fleetwood High School, Hodgson Academy and Preesall Sports Hall.
Carol Southern, Active Lives and Community Engagement Manager at Wyre Council, added: “It’s so important that the council works closely with local sports and physical activity providers to offer high quality and varied activities for our children and young people.
“Working with Fleetwood Town Community Trust to offer the TrySport programme allows us to do this.
“Finding something active, like the sports on our progamme, that you enjoy and can continue throughout life is such a positive step and will encourage children and young people to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
