Midfielder Jason Holt has given his reaction to Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Southend United.

The Cod Army suffered defeat for the first time in eight league matches at Roots Hall, with the midfielder offering his thoughts to the press after the match.

Check out the key quotes from Jason’s post-match interview below…

On the match being frustrating…

“It was – we’ve not hit the standards that we’ve set earlier in the season and we feel that we’ve let ourselves down. We’re disappointed.

“There’s no excuses from us. Once we got on the park the standards were not hit, and most of us didn’t do our jobs properly. After last week’s point, we need to take this performance forward and learn from it.

“We’ll look over the video and look and what we can do better. We will learn from this.”

On his personal performance…

“I’m looking to do better. I feel like there is more to come from me and in the coming weeks, if selected, I want to show that improvement.

“We have massive belief in the squad. The manager has assembled a strong group of players and it’s great to be around the lads. The last two weeks we’ve been off it, and we need to put it right.”

On the illness that has affected preparation for the match…

“It’s not ideal, but we’re not using that as an excuse. We can’t just use that after a bad result, we just look forward and learn from today’s game moving into Barnsley.”
