Wes Burns says that there are plenty of incentives ahead of Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final against Yeovil Town.

Town go to Huish Park unbeaten in this season’s competition, with the latest being a narrow 3-2 win over Bury.

Burns has scored three goals so far, including his wonder-strike in the 2-1 win over Morecambe at Highbury back in October, with the 23-year-old knowing the importance of this match, as two wins would see Town head to Wembley.

“All of the lads are excited,” said Burns.

“I know they are all up for the test and ready for the match against Yeovil.

“We’ve done well in the competition so far and now this is an opportunity for us to go to Wembley.

“That was our incentive at the start of the group stages as everybody thought that if we put a run together, we could go all the way.

“We are only two games away now!”

The Welshman knows the threats that the Glover’s can pose, with the team watching Yeovil's Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester United.

He added: “We paid close attention to this match knowing we’d be there soon.

“The players are expecting them to be up for us as much as we are, and at the end of the day, we both want to get to Wembley.

“Even though they lost the game to United, they gave them some problem with their physical side of the game.

“We know they are a hard-working team who play direct, so we need to set up correctly.”

Shrewsbury Town await tomorrow’s winners in the semi-final, and Burns believes this can help the team on the night.

“This is another incentive for us,” added Burns.

“It sort of helps us in a way because if we do win, we know we will face Shrewsbury.

“We have them a good test at the start of the season when we played, so we know we can go there and do a job.”
