Fleetwood Town can confirm that Ched Evans’ red card against Bristol Rovers has been overturned, following a FA hearing today.

Evans was dismissed by referee Brett Huxtable in the 55th minute on Saturday after a foul on Rovers defender Tom Lockyer.

Head coach Joey Barton added: “We are glad to see common sense prevail with the removal of Ched’s red card and subsequent suspension.

“The decision put us at a serious disadvantage for the majority of the second half, and at time we felt like we were harshly treated, and this appeal hearing proves that we were right.”

Evans will now be available for selection for the Cod Army’s Boxing Day fixture at home to Doncaster Rovers, with his initial three match ban now removed.
