Global superstar Alfie Boe has spoken of his pride following the news that he will be playing a Homecoming Concert at Highbury Stadium next Summer.
Boe – who grew up in Fleetwood – will perform a special one-off concert at his hometown club’s ground on Saturday 2nd June 2018.
“It’s my opportunity to give something back to Fleetwood because it’s been a town that has given so much to me,” said Boe.
“It’ll be a moment in my life that I’ll never forget. It’s not that often that you get the chance to come back to your hometown and play in this capacity.
“I want to fly the flag for Fleetwood, myself and my family and of course for the club.
“It’s given me the drive to go out into the world and pursue my goals – like the team – so I want to come back and entertain the community as much as I can.
“To do it here at Highbury, is unique and special and something very close to my heart.”
Now living in America, the 44-year-old is forced to follow the fortunes of his beloved Cod Army from a far.
“I’ve got the club app with all the fixtures, results and reports and it’s fantastic!
“I’ve been following the team since I was born and officially I was about six years old when I came to my first game. In the alleyway at Highbury there was a little gap in the fence and you used to be able to push the plank of wood to one side and sneak through!
“It’s incredible to see how it’s developed and how the club has grown. I’m so proud of the club and all of the players.
“I wish the team every success for the season.”
