Midfielder reacts after joining Town on long-term deal

Kyle Dempsey has hailed his move to Fleetwood Town as a ‘massive move in his career’ after signing permanently from Huddersfield Town.

Dempsey – who spent the 2016/17 season on loan at the club – has put pen to paper on a three year deal with the Cod Army.

The 21 year-old was a star performer in Uwe Rosler’s side last season and will officially join the club on July 1st.

“I think for me to join this club and see which direction this club is pushing in is massive for my career,” said Dempsey.

“I came here to play games and help the team and I think I was able to achieve both of them. The position that we finished in the league was massive for the club, and the Chairman and manager have said it’s probably the best achievement the club have had so far.

“I remember the way the Chairman was with me the first time I came in, he is such a nice man and has let me settle in so much and you have to give massive credit to the lads too.”

The former Carlisle United man also hailed the team spirit in the Town dressing room after signing with the club.

“When I got welcomed in by the lads it felt like I had known them for years,” added Dempsey.

“The group is tight and it’s such a family club and that’s one of the reasons why I signed.

“It’s one thing I want to improve [scoring goals]. I started my career at Carlisle and racked up 11 goals – this year I haven’t been able to do that in the way I wanted to. Next year I’d like to add goals back to my game.

“I’d like to thank all the fans. Since I came here I’ve had nothing but positive vibes from them. Even after my first game against Blackburn under 23’s I received messages from them of support and that gives me an extra boost to want to perform week in week out for them.”
