New signing speaks after signing for Town
New signing Joe Maguire has highlighted the ambition of the club after signing on a permanent deal from Premier League giants Liverpool.
Maguire – who is 21 on Wednesday – signed a two and a half year deal to become Uwe Rosler’s third signing of the January transfer window.
“I’m delighted,” said Maguire.
“I’ve not been at another club since Liverpool for 13 years but I’ve seen the routine here and the ambition of the club, and I’m just delighted to get involved.
“How the ambition of the club is and the manager that’s involved that made me want to obviously come here and get involved.
“They want to go somewhere; I think there’s a lot of clubs that obviously aren’t in the same position that were interested but I’d say this club’s definitely know where they want to be and I’m excited and I want to hopefully help them get promotion this season.
Maguire featured for Jurgen Klopp’s first team last season in the Emirates FA Cup against Exeter City and is keen to make an impression at Highbury.
“I’ll be motoring up and down, full of energy and you know, I’ll be looking to bring goals and obviously there’s these four clean sheets, I think we should carry that on for the rest of the season, it’s going to be tough but I think we’ll definitely be there or about there at the end of the season.
“Obviously looking into the club I’ve seen the competition straight away but I think that’s healthy, I think that’s what everyone needs to make themselves a better player in themselves, so I don’t think that’s a problem.
“I think we’ll both (Amari’i Bell) push each other and we’ll both help the club in any way possible.”
“Yeah, it’s a completely new thing now, I mean it’s the first time I’ve moved from a different club so in my own way it’s very new to me.
“I’m very new to this so I’m looking forward to the adventure it’s going to take me on.”
