Midfielder speaks ahead of third round replay

Bobby Grant has said that the fans give him an ‘extra buzz’ ahead of Fleetwood’s Emirates FA Cup third round replay against Bristol City.

Town drew 0-0 against the Sky Bet Championship side at Ashton Gate a week last Saturday, with City still searching for a first win in eight games.

In contrast to their opponents Town are in terrific form and are 13 games unbeaten having most recently beaten Bristol Rovers 3-1 on Saturday.

“It was a massive win,” he said of Saturday’s win.

“In the first half we were excellent, which set us up for the game. It was a great three points and it was massive for the confidence.”

“The away fans at Bristol City sang from start to finish.

“The lads haven’t stopped talking about it – we were in the dressing room after the game and we could still hear them singing – it was brilliant.

“And against Bristol Rovers it was the same – they do play a massive part. If we’re going to do anything this season to get fully behind us because they do give you that extra buzz to do better for the club.”

Despite their poor run of form the Robins are a Sky Bet Championship club and Grant is under no illusions of how tough the game will be.

“They’re a good team with some very good players. But we went away there and matched them – we did more than enough to get the draw,” he said.

“On another day we might come away with a one nil win, but we’ll have to do what we’ve done at their place and more if we want to get the victory.

“The manager’s drummed into us that it’s not going to be an easy game – they’ll come here, they’ll put a strong team out because there is a massive prize at stake.”

The winner of the tie will face Premier League opposition in the fourth round in the shape of Burnley or Sunderland.

“It’s a massive incentive - not many of us will get to play against Premier League sides. We’ll be doing everything we can to try and get into the next round.”
