Fleetwood Town have strengthened our ladies football offering with the introduction of an open age side.

The club currently host four girl’s teams under Fleetwood Town Juniors, as well as a development squad with well over 100 girls participating in football at our Poolfoot Farm training complex.

And the new open aged side, previously named Blackpool Wren Rovers Ladies, will now play their home matches at our Poolfoot Farm base under the name of Fleetwood Town Wrens.

Wrens’ first team will play in the red and white of the Cod Army in the North West Women’s Regional Premier League, starting away at Wigan Ladies on 3rd September, with the first home game against Tranmere Ladies on 10th September.

On the news, the club’s Chief executive Steve Curwood, said: “The club were keen to build on the comprehensive girls football provision already delivered at Poolfoot by both Fleetwood Town Juniors and Fleetwood Town Community Trust.

“This now provides a pathway for girls to play from the very youngest ages all the way through to competitive open age football.

“The club were keen to ensure that Poolfoot and the Fleetwood Town family can deliver opportunities for all girls at any level.
