We've met before: MK Dons

20 September 2016

On Saturday the Cod Army face Milton Keynes Dons at Highbury, but it’s not the first time the two sides have met...

In the 2014/15 season, we faced the Dons twice in League One and lost on both occasions, in a campaign that saw the Buckinghamshire side promoted to the Championship.

The first ever meeting between the sides was played in October at stadium:mk. David Ball gave Town the lead shortly after half time before Kyle McFadzean equalised for the home side. Dons took the lead from the penalty spot when Gareth Evans brought down Samir Carruthers, with Benik Afobe converting.

The home fixture at Highbury in April saw a far more dominant display as the Dons ran out 3-0 winners and dented Fleetwood’s play off hopes. After a goalless first period, MK Dons took the lead when Lewis Baker tapped in from close range. Will Grigg doubled the lead with 15 minutes to go, before future England star Dele Alli added a third just two minutes later.
