Boss has called for the fans to create a positive atmosphereSteven Pressley has called upon the Club’s supporters to get behind his side for one last time this season when they face Crewe Alexandra in a crucial fixture on Sunday.
Town know they must pick up a result against the Railwaymen, with nearest rivals Blackpool preparing for a trip to Peterborough United.
Pressley wants the Cod Army to create a positive atmosphere at Highbury, and hopes his players will respond to their support.
He said: “As a group there’s no doubt that we didn’t do ourselves justice at Walsall on Monday and we were all hurting from that this week.
“We’ve always been a competitive team and the games have always been very tight since I’ve been here, be that win, lose or draw.
“I would ask our supporters to create a positive atmosphere on Sunday. Their support since I’ve been here has been terrific.
“We have a responsibility as a management team and as players to put a type of performance in that excites our fans, but we also need them during this difficult period.
“When I first came here my first remit was to keep us in this division and help to develop us as a Club. The first step is Sunday and if we do that then we can build for the future.”
Already relegated Crewe beat Doncaster Rovers last weekend to effectively condemn Darren Ferguson’s side to the fourth tier next season.
“Crewe’s result against Doncaster on Saturday is a clear indication that they haven’t switched off at all since being relegated.
“I watched their game and they worked exceptionally hard. They’ve got a lot of young players in their team who are playing without fear.
“They’ve got an energy about them now which is credit to Steve Davis as he’s managed to keep them very focused. It’ll be a really difficult game.”
