The Cod Army's schedule confirmed for new season

Fleetwood Town will kick off their third season in League One with an away trip to last season’s fourth tier champions Northampton Town on Saturday 6th August.

It will be the first time the Cod Army have started a Football League campaign away from home, with the opening games in the past four seasons all at Highbury Stadium.

The first home match of the 2016/17 EFL League One campaign will be against former manager Graham Alexander and his Scunthorpe United side on Saturday 13th August, with Oxford United the visitors to the Fylde Coast three days later on Tuesday 16th August.

A notable fixture for Fleetwood fans will be the second away game of the season, Saturday 20th August, as Steven Pressley’s men travel to Greater Manchester to take on Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium. The return league fixture against Phil Parkinson’s Trotters will be played at Highbury on Saturday 11th March 2017.

The two other relegated teams from the Championship, Charlton Athletic and MK Dons, will visit Fleetwood inside first two months. The Addicks will be first up on Saturday 10th September and the Dons a fortnight later on Saturday 24th September.

Town will head to London for their first ever game at the Valley against Charlton on Saturday 4th February, with a trip to MK Dons scheduled for Saturday 18th February.

Fleetwood will be at home to Bury on Boxing Day (Monday 26th December) and at home to Oldham Athletic on New Years’ Eve (Saturday 31st December)

The Club’s first game of 2017 will be away from home at Shrewsbury Town on Monday 2nd January.

The final game of the season will be on home soil against Port Vale on Sunday 30th April. The final away fixture of the 2016/17 campaign will be played on Saturday 22nd April against Gillingham.
