Striker enjoyed the experience of playing Dutch top-flight sides

David Ball has enjoyed the experience of playing against top-division sides in Holland this week.

The striker played the first 45 minutes in this afternoon's 1-0 defeat to Roda JC Kerkrade and also featured in the games against Fortuna Sittard and AZ Alkmaar.

And the 26-year-old insists he feels fitter than ever ahead of the new season.

"I've enjoyed it (in Holland)," said Ball.

"I'm feeling really good. I did a lot of work in the off-season to make sure I am as fit as I am.

"I feel the best I've been in a long time fitness-wise, and the work we have done in Holland has been really good.

"It's been quite packed regarding the games and training sessions, but it always is at this time of year.

"It's been good to come out and play against some good teams in Holland.

"They move the ball about very quick and for what we want to work on, it's brilliant for that type of stuff.

"They don't play like the English League One teams do, so it's good to come out and test ourselves against that type of opposition."
