Target Wembley!

4 February 2016

Town 90 minutes away from Wembley return...

Thursday night could well prove to be another ‘were you there?' moments in the history of Fleetwood Town Football Club!

The Club is bidding to reach Wembley Stadium in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but first, we need to overcome a tough test against Barnsley.

The tie is evenly balanced at 1-1 after the first leg at Oakwell last month, with the winner on the night at Highbury booking their ticket to the final on Sunday 3rd April.

It was less than two years ago since the Cod Army arguably had their finest moment, with a 1-0 win against Burton Albion under the famous arch in the League Two Play-Off final.

But all this has done has whetted our appetite for more, and we need you to cheer Fleetwood Town on this Thursday evening with ticket prices starting at just £1!

Manager Steven Pressley said: “In front of our home supporters now though we’ve got a great chance. We have a really good home record and have to use that to our advantage.

“Barnsley are very much the in form team in the division right now. They’ve got a very good squad of players and are one of the biggest clubs in the league.

“It’s a good challenge for us but one which I genuinely believe that we can win. In the last couple of months I don’t think there’s been a game where we haven’t been the better side.

“Leading this team out at Wembley would mean a great deal to myself, my staff and the chairman who has put huge resource into the Club. It would be a wonderful achievement to reach the final, so we need you, the fans, to get right behind the team on Thursday night!”
