Head Coach takes the positives from Leeds cup clash

Head Coach Uwe Rosler believes he has learned a lot about his squad after Fleetwood Town fought valiantly before defeat on penalties to Leeds United.

The Cod Army took the Sky Bet Championship side all the way to penalties in the EFL Cup First Round clash at Highbury Stadium before an eventual 5-4 loss in the shootout.

Ashley Hunter grabbed a second-half equaliser in extra-time for Town which forced the game to spot-kicks.

And Rosler believes his team showed they can handle setbacks like they did on the night.

“I learned that the players have a never say die spirit and that they can handle disappointment or setbacks," he said.

"I think we did well, it worked well and we caused them problems.

"Three central strikers played up front, it was a risk to play Aaron (Amadi-Holloway_, we knew what he’d been like in pre-season, but I thought he was terrific with Devante (Cole) and (David) Ball.

“In the second-half, with the substitutions, we got a bit loose and tight, they took over with the quality they had a few chances, we were comfortable, but then we went and conceded in the last minute.”
