Yorkshireman looking forward to Leeds cup clash tonight

Defender Michael Duckworth is looking forward to playing against Leeds United in the First Round of the EFL Cup tonight.

Duckworth was raised in Yorkshire and believes that Fleetwood Town are capable of progressing past the team close to his home.

“It’ll be a tasty affair,” he said.

“Obviously, there is a few Yorkshire lads in that team, like the young lads so it will be nice to play against a team like that.

“It’ll be a good challenge for us, obviously they are in the league above."

Duckworth admitted the side have watched Leeds United play over the last week and the Cod Army think they already know what they will play against.

“We know what to expect, they were on TV on Sunday so we got an idea of what they are going to be like so it’ll be good,” said Duckworth.

“There will be a few changes, it was the first game of the season and you can’t read anything into the first game, everything’s done a 100 miles-an-hour.

“You don’t know what sort of team you will be playing but we will just have to take it in our stride.”

Duckworth made his debut over the weekend at the 1-1 draw against Northampton and happy about his time on the pitch.

“I got the last 10 minutes, the gaffer just pulled me to the side and said look you’re going to come on at right-wing,” said the 24-year-old.

“I have played there in the past so I do know the role, it’s not new to me so yes it was good to get on.”
