The Valiants scored twice after the break to win

Vice captain Antoni Sarcevic feels his side are struggling to see out games as they were beaten by Port Vale at Highbury this afternoon.

Town went ahead through Bobby Grant on the quarter hour mark and had opportunities to extend their lead heading into the break.

The Valiants responded however through Colin Daniel’s deflected strike before Sam Foley converted a penalty after Anthony Grant was fouled in the box.

A trip to Gillingham now awaits on Tuesday evening, and Sarcevic wants the players to respond in what will be another difficult game in Kent.

After the game, he said:  “It was a tough one for us. In the first half we couldn’t have controlled the game anymore than we did.

“Then we say all the right things at half time but are just not doing it in the second half.

“We’re struggling to see games out mentally and physically. It’s one of them frustrating ones again this afternoon.

“We were stopping them going through the big lad in the first half and were dominating them.

“Second half they use a different player in that role and it’s just silly errors that have cost us.

“We had chances in the second half to get back in it but are just not seeing games out.

“We’ve got to respond on Tuesday night. It’s as simple as that.

“We’ve got to start picking up points and seeing out games because we’re more than good enough.

“We just haven’t got that mental side at the moment where we can see out games.”
