Cod Army levelled late on to claim a share of the spoils

Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander felt his side were more than a match for their point against Rochdale.

The Cod Army had keeper Chris Maxwell to thank in the dying moments as he kept out Ian Henderson's penalty.

Winger Peter Vincenti gave Dale the lead with a back post header after the interval.

However substitute Jamille Matt met Bobby Grant's impressive corner to put the ball beyond Chris Maxwell.

Alexander said: "It was a hard earned point today but I thought it would have been unjust if they'd won in the last minute with a penalty.

"It was a fantastic save from Maxy, and trying so hard to get back into the game we committed a needless foul.

"Fortunately for us we've got a fine keeper in Chris Maxwell who has made a great save.

"It was one where two teams know each other very well and cancelled each other out for the majority of it.

"They got the goal which gave them momentum, but after that we created some really good chances.

"We hit the post and their keeper made a fantastic save from Jamille.

"I thought the three subs when they came on really gave us an injection of life and direction.

"They helped the other lads to to re-inject the game and we're pleased with a point in the end.

"The first goal was a disappointing one to conceded as it's gone a long way to get to that point.

"The lads' attitude was top notch once again today and we were constantly pushing to get an equaliser.

"We deservedly got it so to throw it away in the last minute would have been extremely disappointing.

"We were up against a very experienced side in Rochdale who know how to play the game as they've had success for the last couple of years."
