The Banks's Stadium awaits the Cod Army on Saturday

David Ball is enjoying his new position in the Cod Army side and is hoping they can progress in the FA Cup against Walsall this weekend.

The former Manchester City man has been deployed on the left of a front three in recent weeks alongside Jamie Proctor and Bobby Grant.

And given time he believes the trio will click as Town prepare for a cup clash against the high-flying Saddlers tomorrow afternoon.

He said: “Walsall are flying in the league but I think on our day we can beat anyone. As long as we’re at it we can go there and get a result.

“I’ve watched the FA Cup since I was a child and everyone wants to play in it. Hopefully if we can get past the first hurdle you can look onto the next rounds.

“We’ve got to start turning games like Saturday’s into wins. It’s about putting a few results together and I think we can turn the corner.

“The position I’m playing now is probably a little bit different to where I’ve been playing over the past couple of seasons.

“It does suit the way I can play in those little pockets and thread people through. I like to be a creative spark in the team.

“There’s goals and creativity in our front three, and the longer we get to play with each other the better you’ll see us. It’s a good trio in League One.”
