Youngster will bring pace and power to Town squad

Manager Graham Alexander welcomed his second summer signing in the form of Amari’i Bell to Highbury on Wednesday afternoon.

Bell signed a deal with Town from Championship side Birmingham City, and Alexander believes Bell has the potential to establish himself as a top performer.

The left sided player will bring pace and power to the Cod Army squad, something which the manger feels is needed.

Speaking after signing Bell, he said: “Amari’i is a player we’ve known about for a while as he’s played against us in the past and we thought he was very good.

“It’s a side of the pitch where we need variation and competition. I don’t just see him as a left back, I think he can play left wing back or left midfield.

“What he gives us is a balance to our squad and gives us adaptability where he can play in two or three different positions.

“He’s a young player who has not established himself as a star yet, and I think he needs a base and a regular opportunity to play first team football.

“We can offer him the possibility of that. He has to compete with everyone else but we like what we’ve seen so far.

“He’s a very attack minded player who has great pace, and we have very high hopes for him in our squad.

“Pace is a great quality to have throughout your squad and not just in one or two areas. It is very important in the modern game but it has to be with good technical ability.

“Amari’i will develop into a very good player for us. I don’t think he’s the finished article yet and I mentioned that to him when we spoke.

“We can help him go to that next level. The first level he has to achieve is establishing himself as a week to week player.

“We believe if he performs well enough then the opportunity for him to really go forward in his career is there for him.”
