The Cod Army came out victorious

Fleetwood Town supported Fleetwood Cricket Club’s grand opening weekend on Sunday by taking part in a four team cricket event at their newly re-furbished Broadwaters ground. Fleetwood Rugby Club also took part in this first time event.

The Club staff managed to win their game against an experienced Fleetwood CC vets team by just 1 run in a game of 20 overs. Captain Cod was also in attendance and joining the team out on the pitch fielding he also played his part on the day.

Martin Booker, Head of Commercial enjoyed the occasion as did the staff team represented by all departments plus our mascot Captain Cod.

He said: “The staff enjoyed taking part in their grand opening weekend fun day and managed to win our game with the Fleetwood CC vets game too thanks to some great play from our staff. It’s a great way to build relationships in the local sporting community and we look forward to building on this event with future events next summer with them. It was also good team bonding exercise for the staff too and we are already planning on organising something again later this summer. Thanks to them for inviting us and to all the staff who took part."

The Club also donated raffle prizes for their fundraising activities. The Club would like to thank Derek Foulkes and Matt Clarke from Fleetwood Cricket Club and Town fans who attended the event.
