Cod Army have been in fine form in recent weeks

Graham Alexander is hoping his side can stretch their unbeaten league run when they welcome Oldham Athletic to Highbury on Saturday afternoon.

Town have picked up wins away at Rochdale and Leyton Orient in recent weeks, as well as a deserved point at home to league leaders Swindon Town.

Lee Johnson’s Oldham visit the Fylde Coast this weekend having lost four of their last five games in all competitions, and currently sit in 13th place.

Alexander is expecting another difficult assignment against the Latics though, and is taking nothing for granted as Town go in search of another three points.

It’s the first of two home games for the Cod Army as they face Crawley Town next weekend, a side struggling at the lower end of the table.

He said: "People say now we've got two home games on the bounce, they talk about the opportunity it presents, but we have to remember both these teams beat us away from home.

"We know they've been up there but haven’t been hitting the same heights over the last month or so, however they’re still in the shake-up.

"There's a lot of clubs around that middle zone competing for the higher positions and Oldham are certainly in that. We know they are a good side with lots of quality."

A Jonathan Forte penalty was all that separated the sides at Boundary Park when they met in September, but Alexander knows tomorrow is a different test.

"I thought we were hard done by on that day, and it wasn’t down to Oldham, it was down to other things. It was a tough game but easily one we could have taken a point from.

"We’re a few months down the line now, both teams have evolved but we're still competing to truly establish ourselves at this level."
