Captain picked up an ankle injury at Boundary Park

Graham Alexander gave an update on captain Nathan Pond’s injury to the Club’s official website this afternoon.

Pond was introduced as a substitute in the weekend defeat to Oldham Athletic, but was carried off the pitch late on after an innocuous challenge.

The defender was named Town’s new captain at the beginning of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League One campaign, and the Club must now wait to find out the full extent of the injury.

The manager said: “Pondy’s damaged his ankle which is disappointing for us. I spoke to our physio Luke Bussey on Saturday night when we got back and it was his ankle he’s done.

“He’s had an x-ray on it today but his ankle is still a little bit swollen so it isn’t 100% conclusive.

“We’ve got to wait another few days for his ankle to settle down now.

“It’s a blow to ourselves and Pondy.”
