Youngster has started Town's last couple of games

Lyle Della-Verde wants to keep his place in the Town side when they visit the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder has started the Cod Army’s last two fixtures away at Bury and at home to Colchester United respectively.

Graham Alexander’s men are currently enjoying a rich vein of form in front of goal, having netted four in both games against the Shakers and the U’s.

Della-Verde now hopes to establish himself in the Town midfield, and believes his partnership with Antoni Sarcevic and Jimmy Ryan is developing well.

He said: “We’re all really looking forward to the Doncaster game as it’ll be a good one for us. We want to build on our good form.

“Obviously going away to Bury and scoring four goals was a great win for us, and then dominating and not conceding at home to Colchester was just as good.

“I found my way into the team well and just hope I can keep my place now. I want to push on and establish myself.

“I’m finding out more and more about how Sarc and Jimmy both play, and we’re all still getting used to each other.

“Communication is very important between us as we’re creating a bond and a partnership which we can hopefully take on for the whole season.

“League One is a better standard than what I’ve been used to before, as it’s a lot more demanding physically but I’m coping with it well.

“We didn’t score as many goals as we’d like during the first few games, but we’ve scored a lot over the past couple of games and our strikers have done well.

“Bally and Proc have got a good partnership together, but Jamille and Dec have also contributed too by scoring.”
