Wing back joined Town during the summer

Fleetwood Town new boy Amari’i Bell is hoping the Club can register their first win of the new season this coming weekend away at Oldham Athletic.

Town travel to Boundary Park for their first away outing in League One this season and will be aiming to build upon the 1-1 home draw against Southend United last weekend.

Bell, who joined the Cod Army on a free transfer during the summer after his contract with Birmingham City expired, wants to help secure Town’s first win in Greater Manchester.

He said: “I’m settling in well. The lads here are nice so it’s easy to settle and I’m enjoying my time so I just want to keep performing and getting better and better.

“It’s good that I’m getting an opportunity here to do that and get game time under my belt, hopefully I can get a lot more.”

“We know it’s going to be a tough game on Saturday, as all games are so we just need to get on the training pitch and eliminate any mistakes we’ve made.

“We need to start winning games, we’re creating chances but we just need to be more clinical.

“So far we’ve put a lot of crosses in and asked the opposition questions, so we are making chances.

Adding: “If we can be clinical against Oldham then we’ll definitely take the win.

“When you get new players you need to gel. I think we’re starting to come together but we just need to try and do it a bit quicker because the season is here now.

“Away trips are always harder than home games because you’re playing in front of their crowd and you need to be mentally strong.

On a personal note, Bell is enjoying the role he is playing in the team as a wing-back, a position he feels suits his style of play:

“I’ve played it previously whilst on loan at Swindon and Gillingham and I like it.

“It gives me license to get up and down the pitch and show my attacking abilities as well as defensive.”
