Barry Nicholson's side continued their recent fine form

Fleetwood Town’s development squad put six past Queen of the South in a behind closed doors friendly at Poolfoot Farm this afternoon.

The squad featured a number of first team players, with their experience proving pivotal by the winning margin at the end.

David Ball, who recently signed a new contract with the Club, netted four times, while Ash Hunter and Vamara Sanogo notched the other two.

After the game, manager Barry Nicholson said: “We obviously had experience with the likes of David Ball and Nathan Pond coming into the side this afternoon.

“The likes of Akil Wright, Jack Sowerby, Nick Haughton and Tyler Forbes also got minutes under their belt too.

“They showed good professionalism to drop back down to this level and it was a good performance.

“I felt somewhat for Queen of the South as they are a bit younger than us, and it was tough test for them.

“Until we got the first goal it was a really good game and they got about us and showed some nice touches on the ball as well.

“Bally showed great attitude and enthusiasm for the game and that’s all I asked him to do. He had loads of energy.

“I’ve got a good group of lads here who are no trouble at all. When I ask them to work hard they do that.

“To go in today and play like they did in a formation we haven’t played before was a testament to them.”
