Harvey Hodd and Keano Deacon were Town's goalscorers against the Clarets

Development squad manager Barry Nicholson was impressed with the way his trialists performed in this afternoon’s victory over Burnley.

Second half goals from Keano Deacon and Harvey Hodd were enough for Town, but they were given a scare late on when the Clarets reduced the deficit.

Nicholson’s side will now be looking to take the scalp of another Premier League side on Friday afternoon when they travel to Liverpool.

After the game, he said: “It was another really good performance from the lads. We had four trialists playing today so sometimes it can be hard to get your game going.

“To be fair though some of the trialists looked like they’d been playing for us for a while, and that’s testament to the lads who have already signed for the Club.

“We had first teamers Liam Hogan and Stewart Murdoch playing for us this afternoon as well which obviously helped things a little bit.

“It made us a little bit more secure and somewhat easier for the trialists to settle in.

“The trialists who haven’t played today will play on Friday. It’s good to have a look at everyone and hopefully we can pick out a couple who will be useful for us next year.

“We want our attacking midfielders such Harvey and Keano to give us an end product and put crosses into the box, so I’m really pleased for the pair of them.

“We would have liked to have hung on for a clean sheet but a little slip up cost us that at the end. Overall though it was a really good victory for us.”
