Boss previews the trip to Crawley Town

Graham Alexander spoke to the Club website ahead of this weekend’s long trip down to West Sussex to face Crawley Town.

The Cod Army will be looking to hit back strongly following last week’s narrow defeat at Oldham and fall straight back into the bright form with which they started the season with.

Meanwhile, hosts Crawley Town will be also looking for a response after their home defeat against Rochdale.

“John Gregory is a very experienced manager and Crawley also wields a lot of experience,” said the boss from the Club’s Fylde training base.

“I feel there is always some sort of a reaction from a team when they’re coming into a game on the back of a negative result.

“We need to make sure we get a reaction after our game at Oldham. We will be going to Crawley to win the game.”

The hosts, who like Fleetwood, have climbed up the football pyramid into League One, have bolstered their ranks this week with the captures of Josh Wright and Keith Keane on loan from Preston North End and Millwall respectively.

“I know a little bit about Keith Keane. He is a very good player and he will improve their team no doubt,” admitted Alexander.

“Each week we will come up against quality players but what we have to do is focus on our own qualities.”

The trip to the home of the Red Devils is the longest journey to date for the Cod Army faithful and Alexander had plenty of praise for the Fleetwood supporters.

He continued: “Our supporters are always there for the team and they will always get behind us.

“We have had good and bad result but regardless they will never stop coming to support the team.

“It means a lot to the players and to the staff when we have their following because we want to give them something back for the loyalty they always show.

“We want to make sure we get a positive result this weekend so the fans travel back up to Fleetwood on Saturday night with a smile on their faces.”
