Striker talks to the Club website after his third goal for the Cod Army

Stephen Dobbie told the Club website exclusively after the 1-0 win over Port Vale that the most important thing is that Town are now back to winning ways in League One

Town dominated most of the game against Vale, who were reduced to ten men prior to half-time as Jordan Slew was dismissed following an off the ball incident.

The visitors, who hit the bar midway through the second half, were eventually undone with ten minutes to go as Dobbie converted from the penalty spot after David Ball was upheld.

“I thought it was a well-deserved win. We should have never gone without a win for that length of time because we have been creating chances but not scoring enough. Even this weekend the Port Vale keeper made some great saves.

“We’ve just got to continue to work hard on the training field. Before scoring from the penalty spot I had a header well saved and it looked like it was going to be one of those days again. We got the penalty and I wasn’t going to miss that one.”

The result kept up Town’s unbeaten home run so far this season with the next match on the calender away at Colchester United.

He continued: “We’ve played six games at home and haven’t been beat yet, two wins and four draws.

“The Bristol City game we could have won at the end, Barnsley we should have won. It’s just momentum, trying to get a run together and hopefully at Colchester next weekend we’ll continue that.”
