Manager tells Club website he has had an eye on Hitchcock for 18 months

Graham Alexander admits that the capture of striker Tom Hitchcock from MK Dons is a welcome boost as his side prepare to take on Gillingham tomorrow.

The 22 year old will team up with Town until the 28th December having found first team opportunities difficult to come by in Buckinghamshire so far this season.

Hitchcock spent time at Rotherham United towards the end of last term and was a part of the Millers squad that won promotion at Wembley 24 hours before the Cod Army.

With Liam McAlinden returning to Wolverhampton Wanderers after being recalled by Kenny Jackett, Alexander swooped for former QPR man Hitchcock.

And the manager spoke to the Club’s media team this morning after agreeing a deal to sign Hitchcock who will be available for selection against the Gills.

He said: “With Liam going back to Wolves it meant we had to bring another striker in and Tom is someone who we’ve watched for the past 18 months.

“We’re aware of his ability and he scored goals in League One last season so hopefully he can come in and do something for us. We’re pleased to have him on board.

“He scored a few goals for Rotherham towards the end of last season and that experience is good for us because we were looking for someone who’s already played at this level.

“Tom wants to try and get his career up and running so hopefully he can do that while he’s with us, and we’ll give him every opportunity to do that.

“He’s a clever player and a very good finisher. He’ll come into a squad who will welcome him and everyone is hoping that he’ll do well here."
