McLaughlin started his fourth game for his country

Conor McLaughlin played the full 90 minutes in Northern Ireland’s defeat to Romania in Bucharest on Friday evening.

The right back has started every game so far during this qualifying campaign for Michael O’Neill’s side as they currently sit second in Group F.

Northern Ireland had led the group prior to Friday’s disappointment, however two goals from Steaua Bucharest’s Paul Papp meant the Romanian’s leapfrogged them into first.

Next up for McLaughlin & Co will be a home fixture against Finland at Windsor Park on the 29th March 2015, before welcoming Romania three months later.

Away from the international scene, McLaughlin has been named as one of three finalists for League Two player of the season at the North West Football Awards.

The event takes place in Manchester on Tuesday evening, and Town’s Danny Andrew will also be hoping for honours as he is in with a chance of being named the Conference player of the season.
